Today I went to swimming in the morning, about 4 preliminary events. Saw Ryan Locte swim and Rebecca Soni. Got some really good pictures of the venue. I have already posted them on the site. The seats for the event were the first row of the second section, we had a rail in front of us and hung our USA stuff. It was clearly the USA section. reat view and some great pics too.
After swimming, I went to archery. Fell asleep on the train, it was a long ride. Got to Archery, used the facilities, got some food and went to my seat. I didnt even pull my seat down and the heavens opened up. Not even a warning drizzle, complete downpour. My sandwich was soaked, but still yummy, my shirt on the other hand didnt make it through the storm, literally. My shirt was so soaked I had to ring it out. After the storm passed the sun came out long enough for me to watch team USA get defeated by eventual silver medalists, China. Then, what do you know, it started to rain again. At that point, I was soaking wet, and cold as hell from the cool temperatures and wearing drenched clothes. I went to get a new shirt, an unplanned expense, but so worth it. I decided I wasn't going to stay to see the medal ceremony or to see who wins the medal rounds, i was so cold.
To get back to the hostel, I took a bus one stop to the underground station.
So I have officially been on the big red double decker bus. Even though I didnt make it past the driver. lol
By the time I got back, I stopped at McDonalds for dinner and to get my free
coke glass with a band and some dinner. After dinner I completely crashed. I
have been so tired. I was up at 7am this morning, and yes, my alarm went off this time.
A couple of things I learned today...always bring my umbrella, no matter what & my rain jacket does me no good still in my suitcase. Oh, and I need to check the weather from now on b4 making journey, it was pretty cold today too
Tomorrow is the day with the kids. The Humanitarian day. If this event is li=
ke any of the others that have been "planned" it will be a disaster. Turns o=
ut the volunteering at the Reunion center, which was reschedule several time=
s requires formal attire which NO ONE brought. So my dinner tomorrow was sup=
posed to be with Olympians but will be spent at a local pub with several oth=
er members of my group. I will not go out and buy a complete outfit so I can=
go to a dinner and a dance. We specifically asked what the attire was and nothing was said about formal attire. Oh well, not into the whole dance thing=
anyway, no loss there for me. lol
